Our History

The Foursquare Gospel message was proclaimed by our founder, Aimee Semple McPherson for about fourteen years before suddenly the inspiration came during a revival campaign in Oakland, California in July of 1922, she grasped the term ‘foursquare’ to describe the gospel of Jesus Christ. He is our ‘Savior,’ ‘Healer,’ ‘Baptizer,’ and ‘King’ Who is soon coming for His Church. Thus, The International Church of the Foursquare Gospel became a reality. The headquarters is located in Los Angeles, California.

The King’s Harvest was planted in July of 1988 by Pastor Dennis Leek. He received Christian Workers Papers through Berean Bible College in 1987; received District License from Great Lakes District in 1988; received International Foursquare licensing in 1991; and was ordained by I.C.F.G in 1993.

TKH was birthed in prayer and began holding services at a rented local motel auditorium on July 9, 1988. The fellowship began with eleven people and has shown steady growth since that time.

On September 6, 1988, the land and building located at 1801 Harding Avenue in Terre Haute, Indiana was purchased and after repairs were made services were moved to this location with the first service being September 18, 1988. On Palm Sunday, 1998, the first service was held in the new sanctuary that was added to the building at the same location. The new additions would seat approximately 230.

In the year 2000, seven lots were purchased between Harding Avenue and First Street for a new parking lot and new sanctuary.

On December 19, 2001 TKH purchased property at 1701 Harding (the old Army Surplus store) and began the work on The King’s Kid’s Day Care center.
